My Morning Thoughts

I’ve been in the hair industry for almost 25 years. I am stuck in between the traditional salons and the '“new” salons. I question my professionalism often and try not to be stuck in my own way. But when I really think about the hair industry and what we as stylist are about, we have always been evolving and growing and changing. Keeping up with The New and the trends is part of the business, its part of who I am, it’s what I love about this industry. The hair industry has changed just as much and just as fast as how we listen and buy music and how we watch movies. I do miss having a salon full of women, all in one area, having some real good conversations. The older woman talking about their experiences and the younger woman asking questions and learning some thing. That Brings A BIG Smile on my face just thing about it. I miss that so MUCH!

I know that I must continue to grow, educate and keep up with the race of this business, but as i get older, I have to dig deep to find the energy and the patience. And zi’m talking about the patience with myself. I know I don’t jump into ideas like I use to and I’m not as spontaneous with it comes to taking business chances, I’m very cautious. Maybe the pandemic did that. But never the less, I will continue to thrive in the industry that i fell in love with and hopefully teach the stylist that come after me a little something.

Easter is tomorrow and there is not a rod set under dryer, no marcels smoking in here and no spiraled pony tails with ribbons and bows. What a change!
